The talk considers statistical principles such as unbiasedness, minimaxity, monotonicity, Bayes, and likelihood ratio. I discuss a number of examples in which these principles lead to strongly conflicting solutions, and examine the difficult choices which then have to be faced.Conflicting principles in hypothesis testing Erich L.
