Panel Session Title: Are We Getting the Right Answers; Are We Asking the
Right Questions?
There are huge disparities in health in between
minorities and nonminorities. We need to ask why these differences
exist. We need to develop prevention and intervention strategies
appropriate for the different cultures. If we are to have solutions
that are
realistic and effective in different cultures, then we will need the
unique insight and experience of minority researchers and community
workers to ask the right questions, to ask the questions in the right
way, to observe and interpret and to draw conclusions about and make
recommendations for people and cultures with completely different life
experiences and life circumstances.
This session will bring persons from different racial and ethnic groups
to discuss our paradigms and how they affect our ability to ask the
right questions and get more realistic and effective answers/solutions
in
diverse cultures.
