Statistical Reports

All data projects must be submitted as a formal statistical report, written with a word processor. Statistics graduate students must use Latex. The form of the report is to follow the given format, which is fairly standard in the sciences.

Title page: Title and brief summary.

Introduction: Purpose of report.

Study design: Data collection and description. Possible limitations of the data.

Methods of analysis: Description of how you analyzed the data.  In general, give enough detail so that someone who’s read the report could reproduce the results by following your write-up. If a particular method of analysis is nonstandard, more detail will be required, usually including formulas. Also state what software you used for analysis.

Results: This section includes your numerical results, including tables, plots, figures. Limit interpretation of results as much as possible. You should only include those results wthat are to be discussed in the Discussion section.

Discussion: Interpretation of results. Conclusions, including limitations of study.
