Supplemental Material From Lecture 9 (Feb. 2, 1998)

LAST UPDATE: Feb 4, 1998.

  • Fig.1 .. (Postscript File) (PDF File) Illustrating how the residuals from the fourth example of Lecture 9 were split up to produce side-by-side boxplots. The original residual plot is here .. (Postscript File Here). .. (PDF File Here).
  • Fig.2 .. (Postscript File) (PDF File) A barplot of Hair Color frequency, where the bars are split up according to eye color. It is difficult to compare the conditional frequencies here.
  • Fig.3 .. (Postscript File) (PDF File) Similar to Figure 2 except the bars representing Hair Color are all made the same height to that we can compare conditional Eye Color frequencies for given hair color frequencies more easily.
  • Fig.4 .. (Postscript File) (PDF File) Similar to Figure 3 except the bars represent Eye Color (note that all have the same height) broken up by Hair Color, so we are seeing the conditional distribution of Hair Color given Eye Color. Note that this graph is not comparable to Figure 3.
