Previous: Overview of time series
In this section, we consider two examples of time series:
- (A)
- The average monthly temperatures in Nottingham, England
from Jan., 1920, to Dec., 1939. These data are computed (I believe) by taking
the daily highs and lows, averaging those two numbers, and then
taking these daily ``average'' temperatures and averaging over the
entire month (so between 28 and 31 daily averages are averaged).
This series is referred to as nottem.
- (B)
- The estimated number of housing starts within the U.S.
from Jan., 1966 to Dec., 1974.
This series is referred to as hstart.
