Abstract: Experiment design involves defining experimental goals, identifying and classifying key variables, postulating a probability model, selecting experimental runs, and verifying the ability of the design to fit the proposed model. This talk presents an overview of graphical methods for each of these activities which are easy to use and easy to teach. As a bonus, the graphical framework used to display factorial and fractional-factorial designs with up to ten factors can be used to present experimental results in a model-free context which can sometimes provide more insight than a fitted regression model. This talk is part of the classroom day program.

KeyWords: graphical displays, goal hierarchy plots, fractional factorial designs.
