Homework Information for Statistics 280

HOMEWORK POLICIES & PROCEDURES:

  • Homeworks are accepted without penalty up to 4pm. of the due date.
  • Hand in homeworks in class or in Duncan Hall 1088. If the door is closed, slide it under the door and be sure it is clearly marked as Stat280 Homework.
  • Homework is accepted late up to 1 week (exactly) after the due date with a 25% penalty. No late homeworks are accepted after 1 week.
  • You may work on the homework in groups, BUT YOU MUST WRITE UP YOUR SOLUTIONS BY YOURSELF -- YOU MAY NOT COPY ANYONE ELSE'S SOLUTION.
  • REMEMBER: Your homeworks count 32% of your grade. The grading is lenient, so STUDENTS WHO DO NOT DO THEIR HOMEWORK ON A REGULAR BASIS ARE AT A SEVERE DISADVANTAGE WHEN THE FINAL GRADES ARE COMPUTED, EVEN IF THEY DO WELL ON EXAMS.
  • Homework #1: Assigned Jan. 12. Original Due Date: Jan. 21; due date delayed to Jan. 26. Chapter 1, exercises 1.7, 1.23, 1.30, 1.51, 1.81, 1.86, 1.97, 1.98.
  • Homework #2: Assigned Jan. 26; due Feb. 4. Chapter 2, exercises 2.8, 2.9, 2.19, 2.21, 2.27.
  • Homework #3: Assigned Feb. 2; due Feb. 11. Chapter 2, exercises 2.47, 2.56, 2.67, 2.70, 2.71, 2.84, 2.87.
  • Homework #4: Assigned Feb. 9; due Feb. 18. Chapter 3, exercises 3.3, 3.15, 3.22, 3.32, 3.44, 3.45, 3.47, 3.53. Chapter 4, exercises 4.4, 4.7, 4.9. Most of these are very short answer type problems.
  • Homework #5: Assigned Feb. 16, due Feb. 25; Chapter 4, exercises 15, 28, 32, 42, 58, 63, 72.
