Solution to Exercise 12.04.

  (a) The boxplot of x = loading appears here. The boxplot of y = removal appears here. Both appear to have a couple of outlier on the upper side. The boxplot for y may suggest skewness since the median line appears on the low side of the box.

(b) The scatterplot appears here. There does seem to be a strong linear relationship between the variables. The two outlying points that appeared in the boxplots in fact are the same (x,y) points, and they look like they fall very nicely on the line.
